Summer Camp

Targeted for small children and elementary school students, our summer camp allows children to experience the lifestyle of the past for 2-3 days at the old farm house "Zutto". We swim, play in the boats, fish, dive etc at the nearby Agogawa river. By doing farm work on the field, chopping wood, cooking with a hearth, doing bamboo crafting etc, children can learn about the traditional ways of living. The total of past participants exceeds 250 people. Grown up participants of Konpeito Nature Daycare join the camp as volunteers.

The camp

Zutto is an old farm house built about 150 years ago, filled with history. During the camp, we first hold a ceremony to hand out laqcuerware bowls to the children. The children will then be responsible of preparing and cleaning their own bowls by themselves until the end of the camp. While experiencing the blessings of nature and the bare necessities of life, the children will grow and learn many things.

"Lifestyle Heritage" activities

3人忍者 We call the studying of the past ways of living "Lifestyle Heritage" activities. "Knowing the past, making the most of the present, linking to the future" - thinking this way, the children will discover new wisdom and become creative and imaginative. Experiences like this will let the children to sharpen their senses and challenge their minds.

☆ Wild plant picking: We will pick wild plants growing in the area and use them as cooking ingredients. They will be used as pizza topping and fried.
☆ Playing in the river: The children may play in the nearby river the way they wish. There is a legend that a kappa called " Taigorou" lives in the river.
☆ Wood chopping: We will get wood from the nearby forest and make it into firewood that can be used in the kamado.
☆ Making charcoal: We make charcoal in a drumcan pot.
